WHAT DO I MEAN BY RECESSION PROOF?
You might assume that when I say RECESSION PROOF that I mean an investment portfolio that never goes down in value, but that is NOT TRUE. Yes, there is a way to create a portfolio that NEVER goes down in value, but the trade-odd is you would have to invest in Certificates of Deposit (CD) or high-yield savings accounts instead of the actual stock market. You are not able to be fully vested in the stock market AND be fully protected from losses in the portfolio. That being said, building a RECESSION PROOF portfolio is not all about the underlying investments. It is also about having the right mindset to ensure that we do not make emotional investing decisions.
