The Montserrat - Sant Jeroni hiking trail is one of the most iconic hikes in Catalonia, Spain. This round-trip trek takes you through the stunning Montserrat mountain range, leading to its highest peak, Sant Jeroni (1,236 meters / 4,055 feet). The trail offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Catalan countryside, rock formations, and a blend of natural beauty and cultural significance.

Starting point: Montserrat Monastery
The hike begins at the Montserrat Monastery, where you'll find well-marked signs directing towards Sant Jeroni.
The path consists of rocky staircases, dirt trails, and occasional stone steps leading up the mountain.

After about an hour, you’ll reach a viewpoint at Mirador de Sant Jeroni, providing stunning views of the Montserrat peaks. Continue for another 20-30 minutes on a well-maintained path to reach the summit.

Sant Jeroni is the highest point in Montserrat at 1,236 meters (4,055 feet).
From the summit, enjoy 360-degree panoramic views of Catalonia, including Barcelona, the Pyrenees, and even Mallorca on clear days.

Descend via the circular route that goes through Sant Joan Funicular Station, taking care on the rocky steps.

Upon reaching Pla de les Taràntules, you can either hike or take the Sant Joan Funicular down to the monastery.
