Let's hope that you can actually see what the super scale is doing on Youtube. It's very subtle, but it's a massive help when you want to add that boost in sharpness to your image, or to match with other cameras. I use super scale a lot in my work, as I mainly work with the Blackmagic Cinema Camera 2.5K and the Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera, which shoot in 2.5K and 1080p respectively.

What you'll also find in the world of UHD blu ray, is that many films (especially films that are a few years old) have actually been upscaled to 4K from sub-4K resolutions. I have no technical insider knowledge as to how this is done exactly, but I'd imagine it's a similar function to the Resolve super scale.

Overall it's a great way to boost footage from lower resolution and older cameras and works much better than a simple export and upscale to 4K.
