YGP 2023 Korea Senior 1st Place Winner and 2023 Prix De Lausanne Candidate - Paquita - Soo Min Kim

2023 Prix De Lausanne Candidate Soo Min Kim, Age 18, from Sunhwa Arts High School performs Variation from Paquita at the Youth Grand Prix 2023 Korea Semi-Final, where she won First Place in the Senior Age Division.

Paquita is a romantic ballet in two acts and three scenes choreographed for the Paris Opera Ballet in 1846 by Joseph Mazilier to the music of French composer Edouard Deldevez and Ludwig Minkus. The ballet takes place during the occupation of Napoleon’s army in Spain and tells the story of Paquita, who was abducted by Romani people and doesn't know that she is really of noble birth. Paquita saves French officer Lucien's life from the Spanish government, which had sent the gypsy chief to kill him. They fall in love although their walks of life keep them from being together. Through a series of dramatic events, Paquita comes to learn of her true identity and is able to marry Lucien, who, it turns out, is her cousin.
