Selling your car privately? Here’s what you need to know.

Step one
Gather documents
As the seller, you'll need to gather and fill out some documents. You’ll need to fill out the assignment of title section on the back side of the title. You'll also need an odometer disclosure.

Step Two
Bill of sale
After you have a serious buyer, the next step is to fill out a bill of sale. West virginia requires you to fill out the form shown on screen. I'll also post a link to it in the description of the video below. Youll also need to have each of the copies notarized.

Step three
Transfer title
Next, youll need to transfer the title to it’s new owner. You’ll also need to notify the DMV by filling out a sold notice. Ill post a link to it in the description. Youll also need to be sure to remove the licence plates, and cancel the insurance before the new owner takes possession of the vehicle.
