The Long-Distance Strain of Mr. Barcelona - The Vanbruaene Colony

Method:

The daily work is for 3 persons. Pascal takes care of the racing birds. His mother Olga Vanbruaene is in charge of the stock birds and all the youngsters. She learned it all from her father and did the same job when André was still alive. The third person is Nele. She is the wife of Pascal and helps where she can. She is in charge of the hens for the widowhood and helps Pascal and Olga with their daily work.

These 3 persons are the golden triangle:
For the coming racing season 2003, Pascal has divided his birds (72 widowers) in two groups. One for the long distance, the other for the very long distance. His racing hens (24) are for the very long distance also. The old hens (9) must go to Barcelona, the yearling hens to St-Vincent or Perpignan. Pascal uses the natural system for the hens.

He learned it from the master himself Emiel Denys. The hens are matched 25 days before the first national race Bourges. They are basketed on breeding and do not get youngsters. The hens are matched again and race Barcelona on youngsters 2-3 days old. All hens train together with the youngsters. They train better when the group is bigger and young birds like to train more.
