Start with the cranium—it’s usually deeper than it is tall.

Add the jaw, nose, and eye area as simple shapes.

Once you grasp this foundation, you can stretch, squash, or exaggerate those shapes to create any style—realistic, cartoony, or anywhere in between.

The key? Respect the underlying structure. Even playful proportions will look “right” if the head is built on a solid base.

💡 Pro tip: Experiment with different head shapes and vary the height/width of the features—suddenly, every character feels unique!
