When we recorded the horns for Space Elevator's debut album, we structured it by recording the main written parts of the horns and then doing solos afterwards to have some separation.
In this particular composition Bagel, our tenor sax player Dominic Conway realized that he could just throw down a solo during the main tracking so he spur-of-the-moment decided to do just that.
This was his first take, first solo, after already having played however many hours of gruellingly difficult music.
The reactions from the rest of the saxophone section are to die for.

Space Elevator's debut album will be released on Redshift Records on April 6th 2019 at the Rickshaw Theatre.
