Описание к видео Jeff Trupiano Hoboken Talks

Please join us virtually on Thursday, October 30th at 7PM when Jeff Trupiano sits down with guest host Karyn Kuhl for our next episode of Hoboken Talks! This online program will be livestreamed on YouTube and Facebook.

Jeff Trupiano was born in Irvington, but spent most of his childhood in Union, NJ. Jeff grew up in a home surrounded by books, culture, and music – especially jazz. His mother was a library accountant and his father ran a book supply company.

From a young age, Jeff contained boundless energy and was driven by his creativity. He grew up playing the drums, while his brother, Rob, learned guitar. Jeff found great fulfillment in playing in his school marching band beginning in junior high. He also was encouraged by his guidance counselor to take media studies classes.

Jeff entered college in hopes of becoming an orchestral conductor. He was inspired by the cinema soundtracks of 2001: A Space Odyssey and Planet of the Apes. He, too, wanted to compose music for film. However, he experienced frustration with the early days of college due to academic overload.

Inspired by Jack Kerouac’s On the Road, Jeff and Rob put college on hold and decided to travel cross country by bus making their way to California. They stayed there for 4 months, which was a formative experience. At the end of the day, California was not meant to be their final destination. Back east they went. Jeff made his way to Hoboken just when Maxwells opened up and our city’s creative Renaissance was taking root.

Jeff found his groove back in the area. He played in bands and enrolled at Jersey City State College where he met a beloved professor, Robert Foster, and pursued a media studies degree, and later, other advanced degrees. He found a mentor in Phill Niblock, an NYC–based avant-garde pioneer in experimental media and music.

To fund his studies, Jeff began working at Hoboken Farm Boy. As a youngster, he had struggled with finding the right treatment for ADHD and asthma. Here, Jeff found his calling to become a natural health professional. For the last 6 years, Jeff has been an essential part of the Basic Food store family, which he considers the natural health bedrock of Hoboken.

Additionally, Jeff is a proud affordable housing advocate. He is an active member of the Hoboken Fair Housing Association and Hoboken United Tenants. He can speak firsthand about the importance of fighting for tenants rights.

We are very excited for this episode. Please tune in on October 30th to hear from Jeff!
