Описание к видео Social Justice: The Root of Social Work - Boston College School of Social Work

Boston College School of Social Work held the event, "Justice, Diversity, and Aging: A Conversation for Incoming Students and Faculty" as part of 2013 Orientation. The event explored the social work profession's commitment to social justice and our school's promise to prepare students for empathetic and effective social work practice in a world filled with wonderful and complex diversity. As the academic year begins, incoming students are welcomed into our community's ongoing conversations about power and privilege, race, ethnicity, culture, spirituality, gender, sexuality, disability, and other aspects of a diverse world.

IN THIS VIDEO: Drawing on theory and her experience as a practitioner addressing the root causes of poverty, Professor Tiziana Dearing promotes a social justice framework to address social injustice and marginalization in our society. She discusses the implications for social work professionals when adopting a social justice framework for the equitable distribution of resources throughout society. Tiziana Dearing is Associate Professor and Co-Chair of Macro Practice at Boston College School of Social Work.
