Manus AI is a fully autonomous AI agent developed by the Chinese startup Butterfly Effect. It is designed to execute complex, multi-step tasks with minimal human intervention (though I have seen it get stuck on Captchas and pages that require log-ins, like LinkedIn).

In this demo, I upload a 45-second video and generate a highlight reel. While you can do this with specialized software, it's the fact that you can do this with a general software that makes it so impressive.

Lots of great features from Manus AI, including:
ability to operate independently, Manus plans and executes tasks without needing step-by-step instructions from the human (I show the steps it generated)
Manus can analyze data, generate reports, and even create websites autonomously (not the prettiest websites, but they're functional)
Multi-agent architecture that uses a system of specialized sub-agents to manage complex workflows (sort of how a kitchen may delegate tasks like cutting and frying out to two different people).
Heavy tool integration... Manus can interact with external tools like web browsers and code editors
supposedly has adaptive learning, but I haven't noticed that in my testing
best part: it can work in the background! It can send you notifications as tasks or complete (or blocked), and you can continue working on your own task while it does something else in the background.
