History of Badshahi Mosque Lahore | Dilchasp Maloomat

The Badshahi Mosque was built in the 17th century between 1671 and 1673. The Mughal emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir entrusted the construction to his brother Muzaffar Hussain alias Fidai Khan Koka who was also the governor of Lahore at that time. An earthquake in 1840 severely damaged the towers at the height of the mosque's minarets. Many years have passed since this incident. Its restoration work was started in 1852 but complete restoration could not be done. In fact, its restoration and reconstruction of the affected areas was started in the 20th century at a cost of Rs. 50 lakhs. Architect Nawab Zain Yar Jang Bahadur designed the restoration work. After the construction work was completed, it was brought back to its original form.
