Keepin it Fresh with Tala Matavai

Launched in 2016, was Matavai's first production, 'Tala Matavai', the pacific dance production about legacy, love and loss.

The story takes you into Pacifica with tales of the islands, as Matavai takes her grandson Tirinau on a voyage through the rich histories of Oceania. With ancient legends from Fiji, Tonga, Aotearoa, Samoa, Cook Islands and Hawaii; Tirinau finds his way forward by journeying through the past.

The production displayed the deep connection the Pacifica people have to their land, ocean and traditions through the vibrant performers, dance, artwork and traditional costumes. Defined as a heart-warming tale of cultural survival and preservation, the success of Tala Matavai will feature a production sequel this year in another mind- blowing performance.
