Did our video help you? If so, consider buying us a beer: https://bit.ly/3feE6tJ

In this video, we show you how to perform a drum brake shoe replacement. This job was performed on a 3rd Gen Toyota 4runner. 1996-2000 4runners have one style of drum brakes and 01-02 models are a little different with how the auto adjuster works. This video shows how to perform the job on a 96-00 model.

*OTC Brake Tool Kit Part #6516 - (Nice set for working on drum brakes)

*For the grease points, you need a high temperature grease due to the heat generated by the brakes. We used a wheel bearing grease in the video. Here's a grease I would recommend purchasing for working on disk and drum brakes: https://amzn.to/2BnXRI6

*Mini Grease Gun - (handy little grease gun you could fill with a hi-temp grease to use for applications like this one) https://amzn.to/2yxgtmV

*Straight Needle Nose Pliers - (for removing and replacing brake shoe clips)
https://amzn.to/2pQ6yIa

*10cc Syringe - (if you needed to draw brake fluid out of the master cylinder)
https://amzn.to/2Wd8S8l

*Mitivac Fluid Extractor - (more expensive option to a 10cc syringe but much more functional. You could use this for power steering flushes to pull the fluid out of the reservoir. You could also use it to pull fluid out of a gear oil container and then be able to transfer it to your transfer case or differentials.) https://amzn.to/2q0m7xz

*Flex Head Flare Nut Wrench Set - (If you wanted to replace your wheel cylinders, using a 10mm flare nut wrench would be ideal as opposed to using an open end wrench because you'll have a much less chance of stripping the brake line fitting.) https://amzn.to/32GoIdy

*Offset Box End Wrench Set - (If you did replace the wheel cylinders, you'll have to bleed your brakes. An offset wrench is really nice for the bleeders because the offset gets the wrench out of the path of the wheels so you can easily turn the wrench.) https://amzn.to/2sei01t

*CDI 1/2" Drive Foot Pound Torque Wrench - (to torque wheel lug nuts)
