Greece in Mexico City: a BillyWood Adventure

Greek history in Mexico dates back to the early 1800s, and likely 1700s. The Greek Orthodox Church is strong and the it’s the regional church headquarters for most of Latin America.

The Community is active and vibrant with Greek being taught. Dionysos is a leading light as a businessman who has an international company winning contracts with various governments. What was amazing was the fact his six restaurants are simply a hobby! Until I met him, I had no idea that every Greek eatery I went to in Mexico City was owned by him. He is also a younger man with a family that speaks Greek.

On a personal note, I thought Mexico is a country with plenty to offer. The stereotypes provided by Hollywood is a pity because these are hardworking, decent and cultured people
