After a year of coloring our latest comic, we're finally releasing our magnum opus on how to color comics and manga. But because there's already a lot of videos online about "how to color comics," we took a slightly different approach. This video is as much about "why" and "when" to make certain decisions in comics. Why and when comic colorists might push a story element or a certain emotion for the reader.

It doesn't matter if you use Photoshop, Clip Studio, Procreate, or Krita. Everything in this video is applicable to you because it's about universal principles like color-theory and storytelling.

Comic coloring remains one of the least appreciated artforms in the medium, so even if you're just a comic collector or a casual fan, hopefully this video helps you understand the purpose and power of color. It's as important as the cinematography and art direction in your favorite film.
