Stressing on a quota for Kannadigas in relation to job opportunities in the state, the Karnataka Sanghatanegala Okkoota and other pro-Kannada outfits will hit the streets on Thursday after calling for a day-long bandh.

The Okkoota claim that successive governments have failed to implement the Sarojini Mahishi committee report. The organisation aims to give the 50th-day of its agitation a big push through the call for a state-wide bandh.

According to organisers and cab association supporting the bandh, about 1 lakh cabs and autos will stay off the roads. In support of the bandh even petrol bunks will remain shut, say certain officials.
