Wondering how to breathe when speaking English? In this video, you'll find out the importance of breathing when speaking English, practice belly breathing for more confident speaking, and find out whether you should breathe through your nose or your mouth. Because breathing is connected to pausing and thought groups, we'll also discuss how to chunk or divide sentences into thought groups. You'll find out how to stress the most important words, change your intonation mid-sentence, and pause and take a breath in the middle of your idea. This video is an introduction to thought groups, focus words, a mid-level or slight rise (what I call holding intonation), and pausing for effect, emphasis, and clarity.
