Inspection of Seized Illegal Drugs 4/16/2024

As the Administration pursues its war against illegal drugs in the country, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., together with Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin ‘Benhur’ Abalos Jr., inspects an estimated PhP13.3 billion worth of illegal drugs seized from a recent drug bust at Barangay Pinagkrusan in the Municipality of Alitagtag, Batangas on April 16, 2024.

The operation, led by Police Captain Luis De Luna, confiscated the said illegal drugs from a van after it was flagged down on an intelligence-driven checkpoint operation yesterday, 15 April 2024.

According to DILG Secretary Abalos, this stands as the biggest drug haul on a single operation in the history of the country's anti-illegal drugs campaign.

Following the interception, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) confirmed that the estimated two (2) tons of confiscated illegal drugs tested positive for metamphetamine hydrochloride.

Furthermore, the DILG Secretary granted a spot promotion to Police Captain De Luna to the next higher rank of Major for his excellent work in the conduct of the said operation.

He further stated that the apprehended suspect who was driving the van is already under custody of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and will be charged with violation of Sections 5 and 11 of Article 2 of Republic Act (RA) No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
