Metal forming simulation requires nonlinear analysis due to large deformations (geometric nonlinearities), contact, and material nonlinearities (stress-strain relation is not linear). How do we model these nonlinearities to simulate real-world conditions in Simcenter 3D?

This demonstration shows how to use Solution 402, a multi-step nonlinear kinematic solver, for analyzing the plastic deformation of a bracket.

A step-by-step guide for creating the simulation files, preparing the geometry for meshing, modeling a ram to deform the bracket, reviewing the stress-strain curve of our nonlinear material, defining the time-based enforced displacement on the ram, defining the contact, solving, and reviewing the results.
