DAMON PT BEACH, Ocean Shores, WA: Extending nearly a mile into Grays Harbor Bay, Damon Pt Beach (AKA, Protection Island; nicknamed "Agate Beach"), is an approximately 61-acre natural area adjacent to the Washington State Game Reserve and Marina off of Marine View Dr SE.  Visited by locals and tourists alike, this Beach is a popular place to fish and walk along the shores collecting agates (no cars allowed on this beach).  Sometimes you can see kite surfers and kayak surfers enjoying the waves.  Enjoy fishing off the shores, and even throwing in your crab pot by the "submerged" Jetty (requires licenses from DFW).  It also offers excellent views of the many wildlife, the shipping lanes by Westport, the Olympic Mountains, Mt Rainier, and Westport just across the Bay.  Sometimes the Snowy White Owl will migrate here.  There has been a lot of erosion here, so the landscape has changed over the many years.
The Marina, located directly next door, is owned by the Quinault Indian Nation. It costs $5 to launch a boat out into the Bay...but, beware to launch and retrieve during high tide.
HISTORY: The S.S. Catala was shipwrecked on this beach in 1965. It was removed in 2007.

Videos were taken in June 2024, except for the last one which was of the Snow Storm in Feb 2019.
