How I handle tailgating cars coming right up to my back wheel in the dark in a construction zone. Key is to stay calm and not let yourself be drawn to speed up as it will make you a) get out of your comfort zone b) rush into things you don't want to rush into c) get nervous and more prone to errors that could be dangerous.

It is no use to speed up to get away when someone is trying to make you go faster as that person obviously does not understand the circumstances and you don't know HOW fast is fast enough for that person. You definitely do not want anybody tailgating you at high speeds!

On top of that going too fast does not make you arrive earlier, as I show very clearly in this video. An impatient driver is right up to my back wheel and decides to speed away at very illegal speeds (my speedometer did NOT indicate only 50...), I meet up with him at a red light a few minutes later :) I did not filter through traffic that night so I could as well have been in a car, meaning that there is absolutely no benefit to going highly illegally fast. It only puts yourself and others into potentially fatal situations.
