In this episode of Girls Gone Legal, we sit down with Milana Dostanitch— an employment law attorney, advocate, and visionary leader who is challenging the systems that have long failed women in the workplace.
After more than a decade representing women in cases involving workplace discrimination, retaliation, and unequal pay, Milana began to see a pattern she couldn’t unsee: brilliant, capable women were doing everything “right,” yet still being undervalued, overlooked, or quietly pushed out. The problem wasn’t individual effort — it was a broken structure. That realization became the catalyst for Inspiring Women in Law League (IWILL), a collective Milana founded in 2021 to create what didn’t yet exist: a space where women in law no longer have to shrink to fit systems that weren’t built for them, but instead rise, lead, and grow together.
Headquartered in New York City and now a global community of over 250 women, IWILL is more than a network — it’s a movement rooted in collaboration, shared resources, and collective courage. Milana joins us to discuss how community can transform careers, why knowledge is the ultimate form of protection, and what it truly means for women in law to stop playing by broken rules and start creating their own.
We also explore Milana’s work as Senior Of Counsel at Lipsky Lowe LLP, where her practice focuses on workplace justice, including discrimination, retaliation, whistleblower protections, wage theft, and class actions. She shares why her mission is to empower clients through education, often saying she hopes to be the last lawyer they ever need — because informed women become advocates not just for themselves, but for their communities.
From her time teaching trial advocacy at Fordham Law School and leading students to national victories, to her current role as a 2025 Higginbotham Fellow with the American Arbitration Association, Milana’s work is driven by a belief that more women must be at the table — shaping negotiations, resolving conflict, and leading with clarity and compassion.
This episode is a bold conversation about workplace injustice, collective change, and the power of choosing courage over conformity. Guided by hope, belief, and light, Milana reminds us that even one brave decision can spark transformation — and when multiplied through community, it becomes a movement.
