Led by Professor Michael Halassa, the study analyzed medical records of patients with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, or bipolar disorder with psychotic features. The focus was on the response to Cobenfy, a combination of xanomeline and trospium chloride, which targets different receptors than traditional antipsychotics.
The results suggest that patients with prominent negative symptoms, such as social withdrawal, showed significant improvements. Interestingly, those with a history of stimulant use also responded well. However, patients with aggression or bipolar features saw limited benefits.
