Gorden Tallis SENT OFF! Origin 2000 - Game 1.

With 10 minutes remaining in the match and Queensland 16-12 in front, New South Wales knock the ball on twice 16 metres out from their line, and Referee Bill Harrigan dumbfoundingly calls play on. The Blues then score that set to tie the scores at 16-16. Gorden Tallis challenges the referee, and legend has it Tallis called Harrigan "a cheat". This is true, however it has recently come to light that Tallis also told Harrigan that Steve Clark (another NRL referee) was "a better referee" than him, and that Clark should be officiating Origin 2. This allegedly got under Harrigan's skin more than the "cheat" comment, hence the sending off (Tallis' version of this story can be viewed in the foxsports link below). New South Wales went on to win the match 20-16, thanks to a late try to debutant fullback, David Peachey. New South Wales famously went on to win the 2000 series in a clean-sweep.

Interesting footnote: Gorden Tallis has since stated that the cameraman who he told to "f#ck off" was 'Joe the Cameraman' of the Shane Warne/Scott Muller "Can't bowl, can't throw" cricket broadcast controversy.
