In depth repair guide for the iPod Nano 4th gen. This is one of the more difficult iPod to repair. I would recommend watching the entire video first before attempting to fix your own for the best possible outcome.

Here is some more information on the buttons not working.

The buttons can stop working for two different reasons:

1. The buttons themselves fail. This can happen when some buttons become difficult to click or do not click at all. This can easily be fixed by replacing the housing. You could also technically remove the buttons and clean underneath using the same method I showed in the iPod nano 2 tutorial although I will not recommend it as it is difficult to re attach it to the housing without making it thicker which can cause clearance issues when re inserting the motherboard.

2. The buttons stop working due to a board failure. None of the inputs or scrolling will work although if you hold the menu and centre buttons the iPod will restart. This is not fixable as far as I am aware. Although you can reuse the housing as the issue is not with the buttons themselves but rather with the motherboard.

If you have any other issues feel free to ask in the comments as I will probably be able to help

I will have more of these coming out soon for other iPod models.
