I’ve been wanting to make a wooden katana for a long time now. I want to make a really nice one for myself, but I also know that there are a lot of subtle details both about the Japanese katana, and fine woodworking that I need to iron out first before I can get to the point of making it. So for now, I’m experimenting with my bandsaw to see if I can get the low key look of a hamon. And then next I can work on any problems I find with doing it this way vs another way I have in mind, since this will be one of the first steps to complete when I get around to making my katana my way.
