Despite significant advancements in healthcare, adverse drug reactions (ADRs) remain a major cause of patient morbidity and mortality worldwide. Limited access to medical services and the unavailability of 24×7 medical stores further worsen this issue, especially in rural or semi-urban areas. Patients often face difficulties obtaining essential medications or consulting qualified professionals during emergencies, leading to self-medication, misuse of drugs, and delayed treatment. Additionally, there is a lack of effective systems for real-time monitoring of drug usage and adverse reactions, which hinders timely intervention and prevention. Therefore, there is an urgent need for an automated, accessible, and intelligent healthcare solution that can provide round-the-clock medical support, safe medication dispensing, and effective monitoring to prevent drug-related harm.

The Health ATM is a smart healthcare kiosk designed to provide 24×7 access to medicines and medical support, solving the problem of limited healthcare availability and self-medication. It connects patients, doctors, and pharmacies through a secure digital platform using RFID cards and Aadhaar-linked medical records.
For Doctors: Doctors can log in using RFID cards to review and update prescriptions, check medical histories, and monitor possible drug reactions. This ensures accurate, safe, and efficient treatment, even remotely.
For Patients: Patients can use their personalized health cards to access essential medicines anytime, especially during late-night emergencies when pharmacies are closed. The system dispenses limited medicines for common ailments like fever, cold, or pain, while automatically recording all usage data.
A demo model of the Health ATM has been developed, and future upgrades will include video consultations and mobile or web integration for easier connectivity.
