The protesters demanded that Abdul Quader Mollah and others were sentenced to death after being found guilty of allegedly committing war crimes during the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971 which resulted in "East Pakistan's" breakaway from Pakistan and established Bangladesh as a sovereign nation.
