In this flight I am showcasing the newest feature from SayIntentions AI for VATSIM pilots: automatic inbound handoffs as you enter a staffed VATSIM sector. Until now this has always been the difficult part of using hybrid AI ATC with real controllers. Departures were solved a year ago, but inbound transitions remained a problem. With the new engineering workaround, the system can now detect when a human controller sends you a text message as you approach their airspace.
I have the preview option enabled in the SayIntentions Pilot Portal. When the plugin in vPilot sees an inbound text from ATC, my AI controller gives me a clear audible instruction: “Contact VATSIM Controller on frequency XXX.XX.” At that moment the copilot disables itself and the system disconnects me from the SayIntentions network, leaving full control to the human VATSIM controller. There is no overlap and no dual transmission. It feels very natural.
In the video I demonstrate the entire sequence during a live IFR flight in MSFS2020 with VR and the Learjet 35A. For anyone flying mixed AI and VATSIM operations, this is the first time inbound transitions actually feel seamless.
