● ABOUT THIS SONG: Water of Love" is a song written by Mark Knopfler, and was originally released on Dire Straits' self-titled debut album.
From a personal standpoint, this song is SO relatable, it feels almost biographical in nature. For most of my adult life I felt as though I'd been living in the absence of "true" love, as I thought it coild be. Ultimately I was left feeling lost, despondent and alone. Getting divorced at 57 seemed like a hopeless situation. Initially, I was left wondering if I was going to be living the rest of this existence out alone, basically waiting for my own demise. But I picked up the broken pieces, put them back together even better than before, and never gave up hope that there was someone out there I was searching for... One who had also been waiting to find me, and loved me simply for the person I am.
Now at 60, I honestly can say I've never been happier in my entire life. In fact, it could be said that I'm figuratively drowning in this "water of love!" And I can't think of any better way to go in the end, at least in this life, as we know it!
Hence the MOST relatable verse, "Someday, baby, when the river runs free, it's gonna' carry that water of love to me!" ☮️❤️🎶
