Is the Acura RSX Suspension THAT BAD?! | Alignment & First Drive

Описание к видео Is the Acura RSX Suspension THAT BAD?! | Alignment & First Drive

In today's video, we find out whether or not the Acura RSX Suspension is as bad as they say it is! Freshly lowered on Coilovers and New Wheels, The DC5 RSX is ready for a 4 Wheel Alignment and first drive to see if it got better...or worse. Let's jump into it!

Lowering a Honda on Coilovers is typically a walk in the park, but I was warned that the RSX and 7th gen Civic's are different animals. This is mainly due to the geometry of the steering rack and how the angle changes once the car gets lowered. Going into this job, I was fully expecting having to invert or extend the tie rods, install the extended ball joints, add a steering rack slider/riser, and possibly new tie rods just to fix the mess of lowering it. Turns out, I may have overthought all of this...

After installing the coilovers, my suspension was sitting pretty janky. So the first stop after the project was to visit Cody at Larry Miller Honda in Boise to work his magic! Cody is a wizard with suspension and aligns most of the race cars here in town. So I figured out of anyone, he could make this hated suspension design a bit better. With another new OEM tie-rod end installed, he got to work! The rear camber was set to -1.4 with Zero Toe. The front took a little more persuading but ended up with -1.7 camber and Zero Toe. Everything still within spec for the OEM tie-rod end.

So how does the car honestly feel? Pretty damn good. The steering feels nice and tight, reduced body roll, and feels more confidence inspiring in the turns. I do feel the bumps and road noise increased, but nothing out of the usual for a stiffer suspension. Could it be improved? Absolutely, but as it sits, it's perfect for daily driving and the occasional Canyon Run. Down the road, we'll revisit this setup if things need improved. This platforms suspension has a lot of variables, so start with the basics first and go from there. You may be as surprised as I was.

Hopefully this video made the RSX suspension a little less intimidating! Here's some links to the setup so far!
