Eric Kimmel, Director Rocky Mountains Solutions

Prior to launching Rocky Mountain Solutions, Eric spent over 10 years with the Alberta Energy Regulator building and managing regulatory functions, developing and delivering policy and regulation, leading people, and cultivating stakeholder relationships. Eric was involved with major policy reforms and organisational transformations to enhance the performance of energy regulation. He has led many policy and regulatory programs to solve problems and manage a wide portfolio of risks associated with the development of Canada’s energy resources.

Alice Turnbull, Director Strategic Compliance NOPSEMA

Alice Turnbull is currently the Strategic Compliance Manager at NOPSEMA (National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority). With tertiary qualifications as an environmental engineer (E. Eng (honours)) and scientist (B.Sc), Alice’s career has evolved from consulting and regulating in the environment arena, with a focus on environmental and social impact assessment and environmental risk management, to a broader, strategic and multi-disciplinary role on strategic risk management and regulation across fields as diverse as process safety, well integrity and environmental management.

Markus von Motschelnitz, Manager International and Regulatory Strategy, Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand

Markus is the Manager of International and Regulatory Strategy for the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand (CAANZ).  He has been employed by the CAANZ since 2009, and has been in his current role since 2012.  Markus has over 20 years’ experience working in regulatory policy and rulemaking roles for aviation regulators in New Zealand and the United States.  Prior to joining the CAANZ, Markus held various roles with AeroVeritas Aviation Safety Consulting, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and a major US airline.  Markus has a tertiary education in policy, international relations, and behavioural insights.

Kate Maddern, Director, Victorian Disability Worker Commission

Kate Maddern is the Director of the Victorian Disability Worker Commission. She was previously Assistant Director, Disability Worker Registration Scheme Implementation in the former Victorian Department of Health and Human Services

Prior to her move to DHHS she held various positions to drive better regulatory practice. This included as Director, Public Transport Regulatory Operations. She was also Director, Regulatory Practice in the former Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources, working collaboratively to deliver better regulatory practice, including across the transport, agriculture, forestry, game hunting and environment portfolios.
