Tuesday 2nd July 2024 saw the end of daily scheduled Enterprise operations from Belfast Central / Lanyon Place Station after 48 years.
Enterprise services will temporarily be operating between Portadown & Dublin only from the 3rd July until early Autumn as a result of a line closure between Lisburn & Belfast due to major engineering works which are taking place in preparation for the opening of Belfast Grand Central Station.

Enterprise services are due to start operating out of Belfast Grand Central Station when it opens in the Autumn.

Here we see some photos and videos taken on the last day of Enterprise operations from the station.

The last southbound De Dietrich operated service was the 18:05 formed by 9003 & 206.

The last southbound departure was the 21:35 service formed by ICR 22037.

The last northbound arrival was the 20:50 service formed by 206 & 9003.

Despite the end of daily passenger workings from Belfast Central / Lanyon Place Enterprise sets will still operate through the station daily while running empty to and from York Road Depot.

It is likely that the station may see the Enterprise service operate from it at times when the line into Grand Central is closed for engineering works etc.

Enterprise services first started operating from Belfast Central in 1976 following the closure of the 1st Great Victoria Street Station.

The station has seen various classes of locos and rolling stock from both NIR & IE operate the Enterprise throughout the past 48 years including RPSI Steam Locos operating Steam Enterprise excursions.

Another railway era comes to an end.
