Transcript for the best ESL/EFL debating topics

Here are my top five debate topics for ESL.

The first one is video games are a waste of time. Many people spend a lot of time playing video games but are they a waste of time or do they maybe help you with things like hand-eye coordination? Maybe you can make some online friends, something like that. Tell me what you think about that.

The second one is smartphones make people stupid. Do you think a smartphone maybe makes you rely on your brain less? For example, when I'm driving, I use Google Maps all the time and I don't even need to think about where I'm going. I think my cell phone is making me a little bit stupid. How about you?

Alright, the third debate topic for ESL is smoking should be banned. There's nothing good about smoking. It's terrible for our health. It pollutes the air around us but should it be banned? Tell me what you think about that.

The fourth debate topic is cats or dogs. This is a very controversial question. There are people who love cats, including myself and there are people who love dogs. How about you? Which one is the better pet in your opinion?

The fifth debate topic is climate change is the most important issue of our time. Do you agree or disagree? I think it is. I think if we don't pay attention to climate change, we're going to have no world left in 50 or 100 years. How about you? Is that the most important issue or are there other issues to worry about?
