Department of justice sued the city of San Antonio for violating the servicemembers civil relief act. The city of San Antonio was towing deployed servicemembers cars and motorcycles then selling them at auction. They did this without checking the Defense Manpower Data Center database to see if the cars belonged to deployed service members.

Two service members will get more significant awards, but the remaining 250 will have to share $150,000 or $600 each. For having their cars towed and sold while they were deployed. San Antonio got a slap on the wrist for violating federal service member protections. The DOJ should be ashamed of the back room deal it made.
