Panel synopsis:
Long known as the principal world energy exporter, the Gulf is currently preparing for an impeding era where oil profits can no longer be relied upon for the region’s wealth. Each GCC State has begun the process of diversifying toward so-called “knowledge economies” in hopes that a well-educated citizenry is prepared for the economic changes that lie ahead. What progress has occurred on such plans so far? How are Gulf nations outside the GCC grappling with such economic changes?
