This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Up to high school, Rudy Quimbo lived a "normal" life as a fully abled person. All that changed, inexplicably, one night when he awoke to find himself paralyzed from the waist down. In this frank and revealing talk, Rudy reflects on the idea, gleaned from experience, that all of us share one thing - we all are only temporarily abled.

Despite, or maybe because of the challenges he has faced as a disabled person, Rudy Quimbo is a natural leader. An activist during the turbulent Marcos years, and the president of the University of the Philippines' Law Student Government in the post Martial Law regime, he has since grown into the consummate public servant. He has served in government, particularly in the Senate, for over three decades, and is now the executive director of the Senate’s Blue Ribbon Committee.
