Veil of Ashes was an alternative band influenced by The Doors and Gene Loves Jezebel. They were a local favorite in the San Francisco bay area. They released "Prayers for the World" (1987), "Nëgro" (1987), and "Pain" (Graceland Records 1989) before signing to Blonde Vinyl. Their 1992 Blonde Vinyl release "The Young and Reckless: The Regression of Veil of Ashes" is a compilation of everything off of of earlier 1987 demos that had not been re-recorded on "Pain," as well as one post-"Pain" song ("Passion Play") that had been intended as the follow-up album. "Pain" was originally intended to be the first part of a trilogy, the following albums to be called "Passion" and "Promise."

After the Blonde Vinyl release and some demos, the band changed members and shortened their name to "Veil" before releasing one more album ("Mr. Sunshine") for Eden Records. They recorded a demo in 1994 and then called it a day.

Around 2013, the band reunited and recorded a cover of Dead Artist Syndrome's "Reach." They released that track, along with the 1991 and 1994 demos and some live tracks from Cornerstone 1988 as "Eternal Teenage Angst."
