“Meet the Flintstones” is the theme song for the 1960s animated sitcom “The Flintstones,” produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions. Hoyt Curtin, Joseph Barbera, and William Hanna composed the song in 1961. The television series ran from 1960-1966, and was the first animated series to hold a slot on prime-time television. Considered one of the most popular and well-known of all theme songs, “Meet the Flintstones” is used for the show’s opening and closing credits with the lyrics: “Flintstones, meet the Flintstones, they’re the modern Stone Age family.” First used in season three, the “Meet the Flintstones” theme was later added to the first two seasons for syndication.

Set in the Stone Age town of Bedrock, the primary characters in the show include the Flintstone family (Fred, Wilma, daughter Pebbles, and Dino, the pet dinosaur) and their neighbors, the Rubble family (Barney, Betty, and son Bamm-Bamm). Now traveling through time out of the Stone Age and into the Modern Age, Dino has arrived! Sitting on the Steinway grand, he listens intently to “Meet the Flintstones” theme, improvised by pianist Charles Manning. Meanwhile back in Bedrock, Fred Flintstone just sent a text to Charles saying, “Yabba Dabba Doo!”
