Today it's known mainly as a conference and exhibition center, typically the venue for top-tier events including the fashion fair Pitti Uomo. But the Fortezza Da Basso once served as a key part of Florence's network of defense structures. Every Saturday in summer 2018, it will open its doors to the public to highlight this heritage to visitors.
