The parents were visiting so we picked a walk with great views to show off where we live and work. Place Fell is in the Ullswater valley, we chose the linear walk starting in Howtown, climbing to the peak and then descending down into Patterdale .

Our day began on the Ullswater Steamers to Howtown, after following the path along the lakeside for a couple of miles it breaks away and starts climbing. As well as heading up you head away from the lake, offering a different view of the valley and the peaks around there.

The paths are a mix of grassy (or bracken covered this time of year) slopes, rocky tracks and well made stone paths. You get some fantastic views over the north end of the valley as well as a dramatic view down over Glenridding, not to mentioned the far reaching view over to Brothers Water and its surrounding Peaks

A great way to see the valley and in some beautiful weather too!
