About the Speech: Radical and sustained reform of the public service has been a key component of the Irish Government's response to the European economic crisis since it took office in 2011. In his address to the IIEA, Robert Watt discussed what has been achieved over the past three years in the context of the European economic recovery, the lessons that have been learned and the challenges and opportunities arising from the next wave of public sector reforms.

About the Speaker: Robert Watt is Secretary General of the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform in Ireland, which has responsibility for public expenditure policy, capital spending and Public Private Partnerships, and overall management and reform of the Irish public service.
