I am often asked the question: “what’s the difference between an ocean liner and a cruise ship?” The vast majority of ships offering cruise voyages today are cruise ships, designed to undertake pleasure voyages largely in coastal waters. Ocean Liners, on the other hand, are passenger ships that are designed to regularly undertake a line voyage, sailing between point A and point B across an expanse of open ocean.
