Falls are the number one cause of construction-worker fatalities, accounting for one-third of on-the-job deaths in the industry. Each year NIOSH, OSHA, and CPWR–The Center for Construction Research and Training lead a National Campaign to Prevent Falls in Construction (http://www.stopconstructionfalls.com/). Builders Mutual talks about the role of the insurance industry (while working with small construction businesses) to prevent falls injuries and fatalities through this campaign and the National Stand-Down. They share the business perspective on the high cost of not being safe and benefits of investing in safety. Small businesses also discuss the benefits of participating in this National Campaign and Stand-Down.
