How To (And How Not To) Make A Cheap Laser Engraver

Continuing with our CD-Rom CNC machine series, this time we'll turn it into a laser engraver. I attempted to do this using a laser from one of the disk drives, but couldn't get it to work. Instead I used a $45 laser and it worked like a charm.
