In this video, I tell you how you can get yourself not only a free website, but a free domain name and free website hosting! Neocities and Github Pages both provide you with ways to accomplish this, but both differ immensely in their target audience and aims. Whilst Github Pages is very much a professional way to host your site, with the website utilising your Github repository for the source, Neocities is the spiritual successor to Geocities, which provided it's users with the same opportunities Neocities does today.

They are both free services, so give them a try! If you fancy looking at other similar sites for inspiration of just for the fun of it, i'd recommend Neocities. It has a good /comfy/ feeling to it.
If you want a site that you might be able to share down the line in a more professional manner, Github pages is probably more applicable.
