Through a collaboration with renowned rock violinist Mark Wood, orchestras from Arcadia High, and Dana, First Avenue, and Foothills Middle Schools, electrified the Arcadia Performing Arts Center on Friday, Oct. 4. As a part of the “Electrify Your Symphony” music education program established by Wood, students explored beyond the usual range of orchestral music to incorporate the rock music style into the repertoire. Highlights from the concert included “Shut Up and Dance,” by Walk The Moon, “Living on a Prayer,” by Bon Jovi, and “Vivaldi Rocks,” a modern rendition of Vivaldi’s music, written by Wood himself. The night concluded with an exhilarating finale consisting of around 800 musicians spread throughout the audience, and a giveaway, with a lucky audience member receiving a signed electric violin, created by Wood–truly a night to remember.
