Recent incidents like the Ghaziabad triple suicide case, involving three minor girls, have reignited concerns over children’s exposure to online gaming and its psychological impact. Allegedly linked to the so-called “Korean Lover” game, the case raises a critical question: why do children get hooked on online games, and what psychological factors push them toward extreme actions?
This video examines the mental health dimensions of online gaming addiction among children, placing the issue in a broader context. From the mid-2010s Blue Whale challenge, often labeled an “online suicide game,” to present-day gaming and social media platforms, we explore how fear narratives evolved and what later investigations revealed.
Drawing on data such as the December 2025 LocalCircles survey, which found that nearly 66% of urban Indian parents believe their children (aged 9–17) are addicted to social media, videos, or online gaming, this discussion focuses on behavioral addiction, parental concerns, and the urgent need for awareness, guidance, and mental health support.
