Saint Philomena Church – Stonelick, Ohio – July 4th 2020

Located in Clermont County Ohio, on the Stonelick Williams Corner Road, west of Owensville, Ohio, the little church in the valley, St. Philomena Catholic Church. The parish dates back to the mid 1830's, and is the oldest Catholic Church in Clermont County Ohio. The present Church was built in 1905, and is the third church on the sight. The first church was a log structure built in 1839, and destroyed by fire in 1868.

Near by is the St. Philomena Bridge. The bridge was constructed in 1904, by the Champion Bridge Company, and moved to this sight in 1950, to replace an old covered bridge.

The small settlement was known as Stonelick, Ohio. This crossroads area was first settled in the early 1800's. Stonelick, Ohio had a post office, 1859 to 1900, general store, and a community schools. Besides local farming, there were a number of water mills and whiskey distilleries in this area.

A short distance to the north of the cross roads, is the reconstructed Stonelick Covered Bridge. The original structure was built in 1878, closed in 2010, reconstructed in 2014, and reopened in 2015.
